Saturday

A strong low-pressure system will bring unsettled conditions across much of Newfoundland. Areas along the coast will see snow and mixed precipitation through the day with gusty winds, especially along exposed stretches of shoreline.

Temperatures are expected to be above seasonal normals in parts of the island, with daytime highs generally around the freezing mark in coastal regions but considerably cooler inland and in Labrador.

Winds will ease slightly late in the day, but conditions will remain breezy with a chance of spotty snow or flurries into the evening.

Sunday

A colder air mass will move into the province as the system departs, bringing widespread light snow and colder temperatures. In much of Newfoundland, daytime highs will generally be below freezing with continued light snow and flurries likely, particularly inland and over higher terrain.

Labrador will see cold, dry conditions with lower temperatures and occasional flurries, and wind chills will make it feel noticeably colder than the air temperature.

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead to Christmas week, conditions are expected to remain wintry with continued chances of snow and cold temperatures.
