WEEKEND OUTLOOK: Cold, Cloudy Weekend Ahead for Newfoundland and Labrador

Newfoundland
It will be a cold weekend with mixed cloud and modest snow potential across the island portion of the province. Forecasts for Saturday and Sunday show temperatures mostly around near-freezing during the day and just below overnight, with clouds on Saturday and a chance of flurries or light snow Sunday, especially later in the afternoon and evening. Winds will be breezy at times, and any snow is expected to be light with little to no accumulation away from coastal zones.
Labrador
Over Labrador, consensus also points to a very cold weekend with plenty of dry, Arctic-influenced air dominating. Saturday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with highs well below zero, and Sunday will be colder with similar conditions and overnight lows plunging further. Expect widespread sub-zero temperatures during both days and nights.

ST. JOHN’S — A mix of sun and cloud is expected Saturday with a high near 2 C. Skies turn mostly cloudy Sunday with a slight chance of flurries and temperatures hovering around the freezing mark.
GANDER — Central Newfoundland will see partly sunny skies Saturday with a high near 0 C. Sunday brings increasing cloud and a chance of light snow in the afternoon with little accumulation forecast.
CORNER BROOK — Western Newfoundland faces cloudy skies and scattered flurries through the weekend. Highs will reach around 0 C on both days with minor snowfall amounts possible.
HAPPY VALLEY–GOOSE BAY — Labrador’s interior will remain cold and mostly clear. Highs of –3 C Saturday will fall sharply to –9 C Sunday, with overnight lows plunging to the –20s.
