Expect widespread precipitation over Newfoundland on Wednesday as a low passes over or near the Island.
The strongest wind and precipitation impacts are focused on the east and southern coasts, such as St. John’s, the Avalon, Bonavista, and Burin peninsulas, right now.
Western Newfoundland and Labrador may see precipitation, too, but amounts and wind depend on the final track.
The Avalon Peninsula will likely see rain or mixed precipitation and gusty to strong winds. The same can be said for Bonavista and the northeast coast.
Central Newfoundland will likely receive snow or mixed precipitation and gusty winds if the low passes as expected.
Along the southern coast, rain and strong winds are likely if the low tracks close or just offshore.
For Western Newfoundland, some runs bring precipitation in the form of snow or mixed precipitation. Gusty winds are possible depending on the track.
The low may extend into southern Labrador, producing snow and strong winds.
With this event still a few days out, models disagree on the exact track and intensity, so impacts are still uncertain.
