Winter Storm to Impact Newfoundland and Coastal Labrador

From this evening until Friday morning or early afternoon, a low-pressure system will impact Newfoundland.


  • Avalon Peninsula & Clarenville: 10–15 cm of snow with wind gusts up to 80 km/h.


  • Gander, Bonavista North, Terra Nova & Bonavista Peninsula: Around 10 cm of snow with gusts between 80–100 km/h.


  • West of Gander (West, South, Central & Northeastern Newfoundland, including Green Bay & Fogo Island): 10–20 cm of snow with gusts between 70–100 km/h. Wreckhouse and parts of the west coast could see gusts of 130–150 km/h due to downslope southeasterly winds.


  • Great Northern Peninsula: 10–20 cm of snow with gusts between 90–130 km/h, lasting until Friday evening.


  • Coastal Labrador: 20–40 cm of snow with gusts between 80–100 km/h from Friday evening into Saturday morning.
