Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall, Snowfall, and Intense Conditions Expected Across Newfoundland and Labrador

Significant weather conditions are forecasted to affect various regions of Newfoundland and Labrador starting this afternoon and continuing into the coming days.


Newfoundland:

  • Channel-Port aux Basques to Francois: Rainfall amounts between 30 to 60 mm are expected from this afternoon through Monday afternoon.

  • Connaigre and Burin Peninsulas: Rainfall totals of 25 to 45 mm are anticipated over the same period.

  • Western and Southern Newfoundland: Behind the low-pressure system, intense snow squalls are forecast to develop Monday night and persist through Thursday.


Labrador:

  • Upper Lake Melville to Cartwright Junction: Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are expected from Monday morning through late Monday evening.

  • Hopedale to Makkovik: Heavy snow, blowing snow, and strong winds are forecast from midday Monday until Tuesday morning, with potential snowfall totals of 20 to 30 cm.

  • Rigolet Area: Snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 cm are expected from Monday morning through Tuesday morning, accompanied by blowing snow.
