Here is an update on the wildfire situation in the province.

Kingston

The Kingston wildfire received 12 millimetres of rain in the north and 2 millimetres in the south overnight. The area is experiencing cooler temperatures and high relative humidity, creating optimal weather for ground crews. There has been no change in fire behaviour overnight and the wildfire did not experience any growth.

An operational assessment this morning shows the wildfire continues to improve each day. Northwest winds will provide a favourable day for air suppression, once the morning fog clears to allow aircraft to get in the air to action the western edge and southwest corner of the wildfire.

Ground crews are working the northern boundary with further crews, military and local volunteer firefighters clearing hot spots in and around communities and providing structure protection. In the south, ground crews are digging into hot spots.

Paddy’s Pond

The wildfire at Paddy’s Pond has been classified as “Being Held” and has near containment along boundary lines with no overnight growth. Ground crews from British Columbia will continue work to complete containment and will also action hot spot suppression. No air tanker support is requested today.

Martin Lake

The Martin Lake wildfire received a good soaking from rain showers, and cooler temperatures over the last two days have greatly assisted fire suppression. The wildfire is still active. Ground crews are on the fire continuing to work hot spots throughout the fire area. No air tanker support is requested today.
