Strong winds to put a damper on weekend plans

Strong winds will kick off the weekend in northeastern Newfoundland.


An area of low pressure will undergo a period of rapid intensification off the coast of Newfoundland on Saturday.


From early Saturday morning until Saturday night, strong winds are expected across the Island. Most areas will see gusts from 70 to 90 km/h. However, areas along the northeast coast could see gusts from 90 to 110 km/h, with some higher local gusts possible.
