Strong winds in store for today, prompting several ferry cancellations

Strong winds are expected across Newfoundland today.
The strongest winds will occur along the coast from the Northern Peninsula to the northern Avalon Peninsula.
Wind gusts in these areas could reach between 100 and 110 km/h.
Central Newfoundland could see wind gusts between 60 and 90. Along the south coast, gusts between 80 and 90 are expected. And along the west coast, winds will gust between 60 and 90 km/h.
The strongest winds will occur this morning on the Northern Peninsula and this afternoon along the northern coast.
Newfoundland Power says it's ready to respond where needed. Bell Aliant stated that teams are prepared and ready to respond.
Marine Atlantic is not sailing today, and several provincial ferries are out of service or warn of potential suspensions of service.
