Significant storm to impact NL starting on Sunday

An area of low pressure will bring rain and strong winds to Newfoundland on Sunday and Monday.
The heaviest rain is expected along the south coast of the Island. The Connaigre and Burin Peninsulas will see 25 to 45 mm. Channel-Port aux Basques and areas will see 30-80 mm of rain.
Winds across the Island on Sunday and Monday will gust between 60 and 100 km/h.
Behind the low, intense snow squalls are expected to develop across western and southern Newfoundland Monday night through Thursday. All of the Island will see an extreme cool down with temperatures falling by nearly 20 degrees in some areas.
Snow, blowing snow, and strong winds are expected for Hopedale to Makkovik. Snow will start on Monday afternoon and continue until Tuesday morning. 20 to 30 cm of snow is expected and winds will gust between 60 and 100 km/h.
