Over 50 cm of snow possible for some areas

A significant winter storm will impact Newfoundland from Sunday night to Tuesday. The storm will deliver heavy snow, rain, and strong winds to the Island portion of the province.
The heaviest snow is expected on the Burin and Avalon Peninsulas, where 35 to 50 cm of snow is possible. On the northern Baccalieu Trail, up to 60 cm could fall. Along the southern Avalon and parts of the Southern Shore, rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 mm is possible. Winds will gust between 80 and 100 km/h. The snow will start on Sunday night and continue until Tuesday afternoon.
For Connaigre and parts of central Newfoundland, snowfall amounts of 15 to 35 cm are expected. Winds will gust between 80 and 100 km/h.
Locations such as Clarenville, Terra Nova, and the Bonavista Peninsula could see 35 to 50 cm along with wind gusts from 80 to 100 km/h.
Higher than normal water levels are possible along eastern and northeastern facing coastlines from Cape Freels to the Burin Peninsula from Monday morning until Tuesday afternoon.
