Heavy rain and freezing rain for Newfoundland tonight and Monday

An area of low pressure will bring rain to Newfoundland tonight and Monday.


Heavy rain is expected along the south coast and the eastern half of the Island. For Grand Falls-Windsor and areas west to Corner Brook, precipitation is expected to change to freezing rain on Monday.


For the Avalon Peninsula, Burin Peninsula, and Clarenville, 30 to 55 mm of rain is expected this evening through Monday night.


Parts of central and western Newfoundland will see an extended period of freezing rain from Monday morning until Tuesday morning. There is the potential some areas could see over 10 mm of freezing rain.
