Stormy weather headed toward Newfoundland

1 min read

Subtropical Storm Josephine will deliver some unsettled weather to Newfoundland tonight through to Saturday.

Across the Avalon and Burin Peninsula, rainfall amounts of 15 to 30 mm are possible. Lesser amounts are expected for eastern and central Newfoundland.

This low will also bring some snow to the south coast of Newfoundland from Burgeo to the Burin Peninsula as well as Clarenville. Over higher terrain, snowfall amounts of 2 to 5 cm are expected from Friday afternoon and evening.

Strong winds are also expected for the south coast, including Burgeo, Connaigre, Burin Peninsula, and southern Avalon Peninsula. Winds between 80 and 100 km/h are expected along parts of the coast from Friday afternoon and evening. The strongest winds will remain offshore, causing significant marine impacts.
