Fog this morning is causing low ceilings and has prevented aircraft from conducting operations, but as the weather clears, aircraft will tackle the fires. It is expected to be a good day for suppression efforts for all three fires.
All three fires remain out of control.
Kingston Fire
The fire is 9850 ha and had minimal growth overnight. There were 127 volunteer firefighters and 20 military personnel on site, and crews working on structural protection. Today, there will be hot spot scanning, air and ground suppression, and fuel breaks installed.
Evacuation orders remain in place for Small Point–Adam’s Cove–Blackhead–Broad Cove, Kingston, Western Bay, Perry’s Cove, Ochre Pit Cove, Salmon Cove, Burnt Point-Gull Island-Northern Bay.
There is an evacuation alert for Freshwater, Job’s Cove, and Victoria.
Paddy's Pond Fire
The fire had no growth overnight and is 318 ha in size. The boundaries are holding. There are firefighters from British Columbia, the Canadian Armed Forces, and the St. John's Regional Fire Department. The fire is almost surrounded.
