A winter storm is impacting the Island portion of the province today.

On the Avalon, snow will change to ice pellets and freezing rain and then to rain this afternoon. Snowfall of 10 to 15 cm is expected, followed by 10 to 15 mm of rain.

On the Burin Peninsula, snow will change to ice pellets or freezing rain this morning, then to snow this afternoon with 5 to 10 cm.

Central areas will see 5 to 15 cm of snow. Along the west coast, about 2 cm is expected.

Highs today will range from minus 7 to plus 4.

Across Labrador, it's a very different story; sunny skies are expected with highs from minus 10 to minus 4.
