Two water bombers and a bird-dog aircraft from Ontario are expected to arrive today. The Canadian Armed Forces are doubling the number of firefighters to 80.

Kingston Fire

Work is underway today to expand the southern fire break, and an evaluation is underway to see if a fire break can be erected near Ochre Pit Cove.

Overnight, the fire did not make it to Ochre Pit Cove. Water bombers and helicopters are actioning the northern edge of the fire, and there are 50 firefighters working on local structure protection. The fire had minimal growth overnight, and it is now 5200 ha. There has been no additional structure loss.

Holyrood Fire

The fire is 22 ha and is fully contained.

Martin Lake Fire

The fire has had some growth and is now at 265 ha. Today is a challenging day due to weather conditions. The fire is being pinned against the western end of the lake. Fire breaks are being installed, and there are aircraft working on the northern edge of the fire. There is concern that it may spread to the highway.

Labrador Fire

There is a fire of 3 ha about 20 km south of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. There are air and ground crews available.

Paddy's Pond Fire

There is a new fire rapidly growing one kilometre from Paddy's Pond.
