Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador can expect a mix of weather conditions this weekend, with much of the island seeing milder temperatures while Labrador remains unsettled.

On Saturday, September 27, St. John’s and much of the Avalon Peninsula will see a mix of sun and cloud with daytime highs near 19 °C, dropping to around 7 °C overnight under clear skies. Central Newfoundland, including Gander, will be cloudier with a 40 per cent chance of showers during the day and a high of 17 °C, before skies clear at night with a low near 7 °C. Labrador, however, will see more unsettled conditions. Labrador City is expected to be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of 9 °C, while coastal Labrador, including the Nain region, will see periods of rain, windy conditions, and a high near 11 °C before dropping to about 4 °C overnight.

On Sunday, September 28, St. John’s and eastern Newfoundland will again see a mix of sun and cloud with a high near 16 °C, but showers are expected to develop in the evening with lows around 11 °C. Central areas such as Gander will experience similar conditions, with daytime highs of 15 °C followed by showers overnight and lows near 9 °C. Labrador City will remain damp with showers expected throughout the day and into the night, with temperatures ranging from 9 °C during the day to 5 °C overnight. In northern Labrador, including Nain, skies will remain mostly cloudy with a high near 9 °C and a chance of showers developing overnight as temperatures fall to about 4 °C.

Overall, eastern Newfoundland will enjoy the best of the weather with relatively mild and partly sunny conditions, while central Newfoundland and much of Labrador should prepare for scattered showers and cooler temperatures. Travelers across the province are advised to keep rain gear handy and plan for reduced visibility on coastal routes where fog and drizzle may develop, particularly by Sunday night.
