Warm Temperatures, Thunderstorms Expected Across Labrador as Summer Begins

Much of Newfoundland and Labrador is expected to see warm temperatures and generally fair weather today, although parts of Labrador could experience showers and thunderstorms.
Temperatures across Labrador will range from 11 C in Nain to 25 C in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Thunderstorm activity is expected in several areas, including Labrador City, Churchill Falls and Happy Valley-Goose Bay, while Nain is forecast to see cooler conditions with periods of rain.
On the island portion of the province, conditions are expected to be quieter. Sunny skies are forecast for much of central and eastern Newfoundland, with afternoon highs reaching 22 C in both Gander and Gander-West, and 19 C in St. John’s.
Western Newfoundland is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud, with temperatures reaching 20 C in Corner Brook. Similar conditions are forecast for Channel-Port aux Basques, where temperatures are expected to remain cooler at around 12 C.
Along the northeast coast, St. Anthony is forecast to reach 18 C under mainly sunny skies.
In the southeast, Marystown is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud with a high near 17 C.
