Warm start to the weekend with messy mix of weather on the way

A mix of sun and cloud is expected across most of Newfoundland today. Along the west coast, rain will move in late in the day. It will be somewhat of a different story on the Great Northern Peninsula, where snow will end this morning with rain starting later this afternoon. It will be quite warm across the Island with highs from plus 5 to plus 9.

In Labrador, winter is continuing to hold on. In Happy Valley-Goose Bay, snow will change to ice pellets this afternoon with about 5 cm expected. Snow will begin late this afternoon in Nain. In western areas, snow will be the dominant form of precipitation with 10 cm likely, precipitation may mix with or change to rain later this afternoon. Highs from minus 9 to plus 5 are expected.
