Stormy day across the province

Snow over the Avalon will transition to ice pellets, freezing rain, and eventually rain over the Avalon Peninsula. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 mm are expected.


10 to 15 cm of snow is expected over central Newfoundland. Snow will change to ice pellets, freezing rain, and eventually rain, with 2 to 4 mm expected. Along the southwest coast, rainfall amounts of 50 mm are expected, and there is a risk of thunderstorms.


Along the west coast, 10 to 15 cm of snow is expected. Snow will change to ice pellets and freezing rain. 15 cm of snow is anticipated on the Great Northern Peninsula.


Winds will gust between 60 and 80 km/h, except 130 km/h in the Wreckhouse area.


Western Labrador will see 10 to 15 cm of snow today. 5 to 10 cm is expected in the Happy Valley-Goose Bay area. There is a chance of flurries in the Nain region. Temperatures will range from minus 17 to minus 14.
