An area of low pressure will move across Newfoundland on Wednesday and Wednesday night and will bring snow, rain, wan warm termpatures to the Island.
Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night, parts of central, western, and northern Newfoundland is expected to receive 10 to 20 cm of snow and winds will gust to 80 km/h.
Heavy rain is expected for Connaigre, Burin Peninsula, and the southern Avalon Peninsula. Between 40 and 80 mm are expected from early Wednesday morning until near midnight Wednesday night. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall so flooding may occur.
Heavy rain is also expected for Burgeo-Ramea, northeastern Newfoundland, and eastern Newfoundland including St. John's and vicinity and the Avalon North. Amounts of 20 to 30 mm are expected, however, Clarenville and the northern Avalon Peninsula could see up to 50 mm. The rain will fall on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Flooding is also possible in these areas.
