Radar indicates that snow is well underway across the Avalon Peninsula. The eastern half of the Avalon will see 15 to 20 cm of snow by this evening and the western half will see 10-15 cm. Winds will be gusty causing reduced visibility and blowing snow.

The snow has forced the closure of government services and post secondary institutions with MUN closed at 1:00 p.m.

Roads on the Avalon are snow-covered and travel is not recommended from Trans-Canada Highway to Witless Bay and from Goulds to Cape Broyle.
