The remnants of Hurricane Melissa will likely have an impact of some kind on this province.
The latest models are trending toward an impact on the Avalon Peninsula on Friday night. At the same time, a disturbance from the west will push across the Island, bringing rain and strong winds.
Here is a look at our projections for Friday night:
Location | Rainfall | Wind Gusts |
St. John's | 15-20 mm | 100 km/h |
Gander | 30-40 mm | 50 km/h |
Marystown | 30-60 mm | 70 km/h |
Port aux Basques | 25-35 mm | 90 km/h |
Corner Brook | 25-35 mm | 60 km/h |
St. Anthony | 5-15 mm | 50 km/h |
There will be marine impacts as well. There is a Tropical Cyclone Information Statement in effect for the Northern Grand Banks, Southeastern Grand Banks, and Southwestern Grand Banks.
