A large area of cloud and rain associated with a low pressure system over the northwest Atlantic will affect eastern Newfoundland through the day. Periods of rain are expected across the Avalon Peninsula, Burin Peninsula, Bonavista Peninsula and northeastern sections, with the steadiest rainfall likely near the east and northeast coasts.

Rain may become lighter or more intermittent across central Newfoundland, while western regions, including the Great Northern Peninsula and Corner Brook area, should see mainly dry conditions with a mix of cloud and some breaks of sunshine with a chance of early morning showers.

Across Labrador, conditions appear generally quiet with a mix of sun and cloud. A few isolated showers are possible over southern and western sections, but widespread precipitation is not expected.

Winds will be brisk from the north to northeast along eastern and northeastern coastal areas as the offshore low slowly tracks eastward. Coastal gusts could exceed 50 km/h at times, especially in exposed areas.

Temperatures will remain cool under cloud and rain, particularly across eastern Newfoundland, while milder conditions are expected in western Newfoundland and much of Labrador.
