Rain, Fog Expected Across Eastern Newfoundland Tonight as Skies Stay Clear Elsewhere

Much of eastern Newfoundland is expected to see rain, showers and areas of fog overnight, while central, western Newfoundland and most of Labrador will enjoy drier conditions with partial clearing.

The wettest conditions are forecast for the Avalon Peninsula, where St. John's and the Avalon are expected to receive 5 to 10 millimetres of rain overnight. Fog will become more widespread through the evening, while southwest winds gusting up to 40 km/h will ease overnight. Overnight lows will range from 14 to 15 C.

Areas including Clarenville, the Bonavista Peninsula, and the Burin Peninsula will remain mainly cloudy, with a chance of showers or drizzle and developing fog. Overnight temperatures will fall to between 12 and 13 C.

Across central Newfoundland, including Terra Nova, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, the Bay of Exploits, and Bonavista North, skies will stay mainly cloudy with light winds after sunset. Lows will generally settle near 14 C, although sheltered inland valleys could dip to around 7 C.

Western Newfoundland will experience the best overnight weather. Corner Brook, Gros Morne, Bay St. George, Channel-Port aux Basques, and the Green Bay–White Bay region are expected to see mainly clear skies after sunset, with overnight lows ranging from 10 to 12 C. Some inland areas around Deer Lake and Buchans could see fog patches develop before morning.

In Labrador, isolated evening showers will taper off across the west, including Labrador City, Churchill Falls, and the Churchill Valley, before skies clear overnight. Eastern and coastal Labrador will also see improving conditions after a few evening showers, although cloud cover will linger longer around Nain. Overnight lows across Labrador will range from 9 to 15 C, with breezy conditions continuing in some coastal communities.
