Partial Closure Planned for Bowring Park During Japanese Beetle Treatment

Jul 6
1 min read

A section of Bowring Park will be temporarily closed on today as crews carry out Japanese beetle treatment as part of an ongoing provincial eradication program.

The City of St. John's said the closure, which is weather-dependent, will affect the area between the park's main west gate entrance on Park Road and the Jamie Morry Sports Field.

Barricades and signage will be installed to mark the closed sections of the park during the treatment work.

The city said the portion of the park extending from the duck pond entrance on Waterford Bridge Road to the playground will remain open and accessible to visitors throughout the day.

The splash pad, swimming pool, playground and all scheduled recreational programming will continue to operate as normal.

The affected areas are expected to reopen for regular use on Tuesday, July 7.
