There is some welcome news this morning for firefighting efforts in Musgrave Harbour.
The town received 14 mm of rain overnight. A temporary weather station has been set up to closely monitor local conditions.
Crews have established a staging area nearby and plan to deploy ground crews to begin working the fire directly.
Currently, all properties within the town are safe. However, the evacuation order remains in effect. Residents are strongly urged to register with the Canadian Red Cross by calling 709-729-0921 if they haven’t already.
Those planning to travel should be reminded that a roadblock is still in place and travel is currently restricted.
