A major winter storm is set to impact most of the Island on Monday Night and Tuesday.

The storm will deliver a considerable amount of snow to the eastern areas of Newfoundland. Snowfall amounts over the Avalon Peninsula, Burin Peninsula, Bonavista Peninsula, and the Clarenville area will likely range from 30 to 50 cm.

Winds will also gust to 60 km/h and increase to nearly 100 km/h on Tuesday Night.

Over the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas, precipitation may change to ice pellets and eventually rain on Tuesday. As temperatures fall on Tuesday Night, precipitation will change back to snow.

Along the south coast, the interior, Grand Falls-Windsor, the Bay of Exploits, Bonavista North, Gander, and Terra Nova, Snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are expected. Winds are expected to gust between 80 and 100 km/h.

Conditions will improve by Tuesday Night.
