Lightning damages transmission line in Conception Bay North

Over 1200 people remain without power this morning after lightning struck a transmission line last night in a remote wooded area off Route 80 in Conception Bay North.

Newfoundland Power crews are working to repair damage to the line.

Multiple communities between Grates Cove and Ochre Pit Cove were impacted, with approximately 2200 customers experiencing an outage.

Due to the remote location of the damage, specialized equipment is required to access the site and make required repairs.

Complete restoration will take place once the repairs are complete, expected by approximately 5:00 p.m. today.
