Heavy rain throughout today will bring needed relief to the Kingston wildfire and crews are reporting over 10 millimetres of rain on the fire already this morning. The wildfire remains active, with lingering smoke continuing to affect the western boundary.

The low ceiling has halted air assets but 74 ground crew members from this province, Ontario and British Columbia are back on site digging into hot spots, with assistance from local fire departments. If the ceiling lifts, light and heavy capacity helicopters are ready to provide aerial suppression supports.

Although sections of the fire have been contained and the Incident Management Team is reporting a steady decrease in the overall activity, the wildfire is still classified as "Out of Control." The wildfire remains estimated at 10,095 hectares in size.
