Monday is supposed to be back to school and back to work for many of us, but Mother Nature might have other plans.

An area of low pressure will pass just east of the Avalon Peninsula overnight and Monday and will bring heavy snow to the Avalon Peninsula and portions of the northeast coast.

Over the St. John's metro area, the northwest and southeast Avalon Peninsula, total snowfall of 15 to 30 cm is expected along with wind gusts from 60 to 70 km/h from Sunday night until Monday morning.

Central, northeastern, and eastern Newfoundland will see lesser amounts of snow, with 5 to 15 cm expected.
