Kingston Fire
The fire is just over 10000 ha. It was a good day with fire suppression yesterday.
The evacuation alert has been lifted for Freshwater Jobs Cove. The evacuation orders remain in place.
The number of structures lost was pegged at 203, but has been revised to 196.
200 poles have been damaged or compromised. 125 will be installed as it is safe to do so; 30 of those have been completed. The remaining 75 will be replaced as property reconstruction takes place.
Paddy's Pond
Wildfire is under control. It should not spread. The British Columbia crew moved from Paddy’s Pond to the Kingston wildfire to provide support, and local Newfoundland and Labrador ground crews will continue to be on site to action any hot spots that may persist.
Martin Lake
The fire is being held. Suppression work continues today.
Forestry officials have reopened a portion of the resource road at Miguel Lake, located three kilometres from Route 360. This road is only open to cabins located at Miguel Lake. Access to cabins beyond Miguel Lake, as well as cabins in the Martin Lake and Rushy Pond areas, remains closed at this time.
