Evacuation alert expanded to include Southlands and Galway in St. John's

The evacuation alert has been expanded to include Southlands and Galway. The regional state of emergency has been expanded to include parts of St. John's, CBS, and Paradise.

Should an evacuation be necessary, it will be a phased approach.

Significant losses are anticipated in Ochre Pit Cove and Western Bay due to the Kingston fire.

Hogan also added that volunteer firefighters will be compensated.

With regards to the Paddy's Pond fire, police are looking to speak with the female driver of a dark SUV that headed east prior to a report of the fire.
