Blustery winter weather persists across Labrador

Blizzard, snowfall, and freezing rain warnings and a blowing snow advisory are in effect across eastern and coastal Labrador.


Heavy snow is expected for Nain, Hopedale, Cartwright where 15 to 30 cm is expected. The highest snowfall amounts will be from Hopedale to Postville and Makkovik. Winds will also gust from 100 to 120 km/h overnight tonight, until Wednesday evening.


Norman Bay to Lodge Bay, mainly north of Port Hope Simpson and the Trans-Labrador Highway from Crook's Lake to Cartwright Junction, will see another 5 cm of snow this evening.


As of 4:00 p.m. today, the highway from Lodge Bay to Red Bay was closed.
