Heat records broken in Labrador
On Friday, three locations in Labrador set a daily maximum temperature record. Cartwright reached a temperature of 25.7. The old record of 25.6 was set in 1938, and records in this area have been kept since 1934. A high of 28.3 was reached in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The old record of 27.8 was set in 1976, and records in this area have been kept since 1941. Mary's Harbour got up to 28.3. The old record of 27.4 was set in 2005, and records in this area have been kept since 1983

Rain across western Labrador, nice for the remainder of the province
Some drizzle is possible this morning along the south coast but will give way to sun and cloud this afternoon; most other areas of the Island will see mostly sunny skies. Highs today will range from 20 to 27. Some rain is expected in western Labrador, with 5 to 10 mm expected in Labrador City. 2 mm is on the way to Churchill Falls. Elsewhere, conditions will be fair across the Big Land. Highs from 14 to 27 are expected.

Tropical Storm Dolly moving quickly west across Atlantic
Tropical Storm Dolly is moving quickly westward across the Atlantic, but is not currently expected to remain a tropical storm by the time it reaches the Leeward Islands. The National Hurricane Center says Dolly is located about 2,290 kilometres east of the Leeward Islands as of 5 p.m. Thursday. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h with higher gusts and is moving west at about 39 km/h. Forecasters expect that westward motion to continue over the next couple of days
